When the horse movements is transferred to the rider, it provides a combination of sensory , motor and neurological input that can positively effect a variety of diagnoses. In hippotherapy, the horse is used as treatment tool by an OT, PT or SLP to develop specific functional skills, and achieve developed goals.
Hippotherapy is part of a comprehensive treatment plan to improve an individuals overall quality of life.
